EVH runners in Cross Country action

It was a quiet weekend on the roads but we did have some of our athletes taking part in Cross Country races
The Devon Schools XC was rearranged and held at West Buckland School on Saturday
Arthur Nicholson has a great run in the Year 7 boys race finishing 2nd. Luke Hayes was 5th in the Senior Boys race.
They have both been selected for the Devon team in the SW schools event next Saturday in Exeter

Meanwhile Matt Gilvear and Charlie Milward represented their Universities in the BUCS Cross Country Championships
held at Loughborough
Matt was 72nd in the Long race over 10.45km (36.57) and Charlie was 397th in the Short race over 8.1 km (35.19)

Training update and Club Championships

Training tomorrow Tuesday is the first Winter Handicap of the year
As usual there will be other routes.
Hopefully it will be dry.

Thanks to Helen Chapell for taking the role of co-ordinator

As I said last week entries for the 2026 Ivybridge 10K are now live and coming in steadily
The race will take place on Saturday 23rd May with the usual 6.30pm start from the Rugby Club.
We are expecting the usual bumper entry so enter early.
We have kept the prices the same as in 2025 so with the unique race T-shirt as a memento it is fantastic value
(Much cheaper that others taking place in this area)

Next Westward League in Plymouth this Sunday

The next Westward League is taking place in Central Park , Plymouth next Sunday 8th February
The course details are shown here >>>
It is the same course we have used for the past few years.
We really need some helpers as well on the day. If you can help please let Keith know.

The previous Westward League was held on Sunday 11th January at Westward Ho!
This fixture is held in conjunction with the North Devon Cross Country League on the
Northam Burrows next to the beach.
It was very windy but it did stay dry. There was the usual wet underfoot conditions but not as bad as some years.
It wasn’t our best turnout with no juniors at all taking part.
Becky Lee was our only female finishing 53rd (5th V40) but she ran well to move herself up to 2nd overall in the Fv40 age group

In the Men’s race Ben Holmes had another good run and he is now leading the overall league

The results were as follows

Ben Holmes 3rd
Peter Allen 27th
Chris Prall 28th (3rd V40)
Nigel Grottick 67th (6th V60)

Chris has moved int 2nd place in the V40 age group.

Armada 3K & Westward League Cross Country

Pictured above are our athletes who did seven events in the Armada Grand Prix receiving their T-shirts after the Armada 3K last Wednesday.

The club results from the December race were as follows

On Saturday three members of club ran in the Race the Tide (Dark) race at Holbeton
The race is billed as a 8.5 run through the Flete estate.

On Sunday Phil Adderley completed his busy weekend (he did the Plym Valley Parkrun as well) by completing the Haldon 10K in 60.11

We had just a few runners who went to the Westward League at a very windy and wet Westward Ho!
We had just two seniors and a few juniors taking part. Our U11’s did well again.
