Return to track competition in Plymouth

Competitive athletics made a long awaited return to the Brickfields, Plymouth on Sunday.
The track was refurbished during the initial lockdown in 2020 and this was the first event at the venue.

There were over 200 athletes taking part plus officials. Many of the officials were from our club and they did a superb job in putting on the meeting.

Our athletes who took part were in good form.
Isabella Trowell who was the April winner of the athlete of the month set another pb in the 600m taking 4 secs off her time set in Exeter.
She also did the LJ (3.41m and the 70m Hurdles.
Bella May had a good run in the 800m (2.38.26) and was just edged out in the 200m by team mate Libby Kirby who ran a new pb of 32.61
Libby also ran the 800m in a seasons best time.
Finlay Bechley set two new pb’s in the 150m and 600m. Rose Brunyseels set three pb’s at 800m (2.49.02), LJ (3.98m) and made her debut at 300m (48.63)
Isabelle Drew also had another good day, setting a new pb in the 75m (12.81s) and jumping again over 3m in the LJ
It was a little disappointing not to see more of our athletes there. We hope the numbers taking part will increase over the next few weeks.
It would of course been the weekend of our 10K but having seen the weather on Saturday it was possibly a good thing that the race was cancelled.
