Haytor Heller and SW League

This past Saturday saw the Haytor Heller  race.
This popular race is held over a 6 mile course with steep ascents and descents and over rocky terrain.
It is part of the SW Fell Running Series

Emma Lake was our best runner in 52nd overall and first FV50

Ben Bristow and Nigel Grottick ran the 5000m
Ben was 3rd in 17.38.55 and Nigel was 7th in 18.46.72
Ben also did the Javelin with a throw of 26.11
Tom Davies did the 200m in 28.89 and the 800m in 2.37.34.
He also did the High Jump and jumped 1.45m
Eryn Hoey did the 100m in 14.64 and the 200m in 31.00
She also did the Triple Jump and recorded a jump of 8.86
Noah did the Shot (5.24m)and the Long Jump (3.22m)

Isabella Trowell was part of the Southern Scorpions team in the School Games on Friday and Saturday
She ran the 600m leg in the Hunt Medlay relay
Mark Rinagl did the Perranporth Tri on Sunday in a time of 2:26 in  16th out of about 120.
He faced 3ft surf, lumpy bike and a pretty grueling run up and down sand dunes with the rest on the beach.

Thee Flete 10K rakes place on 12th and the Storm the Fort 10K is on Sunday 13th

 

Important Junior update

We return to normal times on Thursday 10th September when we will be meeting in the Sports Hall. The times from Thursday 10th will be as follows:-

5.45pm until 6.50pm for all year 4,5 and 6 except for those who had already moved to the later session.

7 – 8 for all others.

There is some flexibility with this so if you wish to attend a particular session let us know.

We do have quite large numbers in the second session and we hope to offer optional endurance training on a weekly basis as part of the session.

Please note the age groups will be changing from Sept 30th which will affect everyone doing Sportshall and Cross Country events.

The age groups are as follows

Year  3/4 – U10
Year  5/6 – U12
Year 7/8 – U14
Year 9/10 – U16
Year 11/12 – U18

We now have the dates for the Sportshall League and the Cross Country

They are as follows:-

Sportshall
18th  October, 29th November, 24th January, 21st February, and Sat 20th March.

These are all held in the Plymouth Life Centre

Westward League Cross Country

11th October – Newnham Park, Plymouth – Relay event
15th November – Newquay – combined with Cornwall AA County Championships
5th December – Exeter – combined with Devon AA County Championships
10th January – Westward Ho! – joint promotion with North Devon League
13th February – Redruth
28th February – Central Park, Plymouth including presentations.

These are open to all with races from U10’s up to Seniors.

As a warm up the Flete 5K is on Saturday 12th September, we already have some juniors entered

Also next Tuesday (8th) is our Relay training session in Filham from 6pm.The course is 3k.
Juniors are welcome and you need to meet at the Rugby Club at 5.50pm or go straight to the venue.

Training Update – Filham Relays Tuesday September 8th

This Tuesday sees another edition of mixed team relays at Filham.

Food and drink available to buy at the rugby club afterwards (around £4.50 a pasty and £3.50 for chips/ cheesy chips).

HI will put teams together.

We have the Flete 10K coming up on this Saturday 12th September around the
beautiful setting of the Flete estate.
It is an ideal chance to run in this private estate with superb views.
There is also a 5K and a 1K fun run.
There are a few hills but it is worth it.
We are helping with the event once again.
