Junior Training and competition updates

Junior training returned with endurance training at the Rugby Club and then back at the Community College on Thursday Jan 6th.
In view of recent COVID developments we would ask everyone ensure their child is free of any symptoms before attending and if in doubt take a LFT test.
Also wear a face mask whenever possible. We meet in the sports hall. Please use the side door to enter unless it is wet.
Memberships and training fees are now due. All current members have received an email.

Well done to all those who took part in the  Devon Sportshall competition held in the Plymouth Life Centre
We had 27 athletes there but we were very short of U13 and U15’s.  All the athletes did extremely well and we are still in 2nd place overall although Torbay are challenging us. The next one is on Sunday 20th February again at Plymouth so we hope for an even better turnout.
The results of all the clubs athletes are shown here >>>

For those not familiar with age groups it is the age on August 31st 2021 for both cross country and Sportshall.

Juniors in action at Sportshall

On a quiet weekend for road races in our area the juniors took centre stage with the Devon Sportshall competition held in the Plymouth Life Centre
We had 27 athletes there but we were very short of U13 and U15’s.  All the athletes did extremely well and we are still in 2nd place overall although Torbay are challenging us. The next one is on Sunday 20th February again at Plymouth so we hope for an even better turnout.

We had two of our athlete in Indoor Track action, Will Battershill competed in the World Tour event in Manchester clocking a time of 8.00.00 in a high quality 3000m and Nathan Brown set a new pb at 800m of 1.53.75 at Lee Valley.

Alison and Dave Engledew part in the Doynton Hard Half Marathon on Sunday (their third time, although first as EVH members).
It’s a tough, extremely muddy race on the edge of the Cotswolds
Dave finished in 1.54.16 and Alison was first VM60 and I was 2nd in age category in a time of 2.12.44.

I am sure we also had the usual take up of Parkrunners on the Saturday

Cross Country action at Westward Ho!

Last Sunday was the first Westward League Cross Country of 2022 at a breezy but dry Westward Ho!
