Junior Training and competition updates

We have returned to two sessions for our junior training at ICC on a Thursday evening .
We are now meeting inside  the sports hall (except for the next two weeks). Please enter and leave through the side door.
Just to confirm that for the next two weeks we cannot use the Sportshall for EVH training on a Thursday due to exams. We are also without the sprint track because the lights have been removed temporarily due to work on the new astroturf pitch. We have been able to secure use of both the indoor studios. Please meet in Studio I which is just off the reception. Times will be the same as usual. We may be doing some of the sessions (particularly the 7 – 8 one) outside so come prepared. We hope that we can still have some good training even though space is limited.

Well done to all those who came along to the Sportshall League at Plymouth. We had 25 there and that would have been more if COVID hadn’t intervened.
Our commiserations to those who had to miss out. We could still have done with more. There are some of our juniors who have not yet competed in either sportshall or cross country. We are aware that it may be new to you but we do ask that you support the competitions. Training is good but without taking part in competition there is no measure of success for the athlete or evidence that they are progressing.
Please make every effort to get your child to these events. I am sure you will enjoy it. Full details (including the timetable and list of dates) are shown on the relevant pages.

Well done to those juniors who made it to Newquay for the Westward League. Please see cross county page here >>> for the results and details of the next fixture at Exeter which includes the county championships. If you can car share or need transport then please speak to one of us at training.

For those not familiar with age groups it is the age on August 31st 2021 for both cross country and Sportshall.

Juniors in Sportshall action

Our juniors took pride of place this weekend with 25 of them in action at the Devon Sportshall fixture in Plymouth.
We lost a few more due to COVID unfortunately but everyone who was there did exceptionally well.
We won a total of 24 medals in the Devon Championships which for a young inexperienced team is outstanding
In the U13 the two standout athletes were Luke Hayes (2 golds and a bronze medal) and Isabella Trowell (2 golds and silver)
In the U11 boys Thomas Carter had one gold and two silver medals and in the U10 girls Erin Hoey won three medals.
We are still lying in 2nd place overall behind leaders Plymouth but with with an even better turnout next time we can close the gap.
The next one is not until 23rd January. The club results are shown here >>>
