Latest Junior News – Junior training update 20th June

Erme Valley Harriers have an active junior section who normally meet on a Thursday evening at Ivybridge Community College.

The current situation with EVH junior training is as follows. At this moment in time we do not have the use of the facilities at Ivybridge Community College and we have to work to the guidelines of England Athletics which means we can train only 5 athletes with a coach.
You may be aware we have begun a limited training session in Victoria Park on a Thursday evening from 6 -7. Unfortunately this week’s session was cancelled due to the heavy rain.
We have only 5 coaches regularly available, so our maximum number of athletes is 25. We do therefore have a few spaces for athletes who are year 6 and above.
If anyone would like to come along then they need to email me. You would also need to complete a permission slip and remain at the venue during the session.
We are also beginning some track and field training at Tavistock on Saturday afternoons (4 – 6) . This will be limited to 15. Athletes must be in the Year 6 and upwards category and book with me before the session. You cannot, I am afraid, just turn up.
I am really sorry we cannot put on sessions for the younger athletes at the moment. As you can imagine it is impossible under the current guidelines. We hope this may change after July 4th but we are still faced with the lack of facilities. I will update everyone after July 6th when we have another club committee meeting via Zoom.

Remember you can still access the training information that England Athletics have produced on https://www.englandathletics.org/about-us/athletics-at-home/

It contains a lot of useful resources including all the Athletics 365 information and videos which are extremely useful.
In addition there is the Devon Virtual School games challenges going on at the moment. Click here for more details

If anyone needs any advice or help please get in touch. Also keep an eye on the website for new information.
The recent monthly magazine The Harrier is now on there on the Harrier page.

It makes for an interesting read.

Hope we can all meet up very soon. In the meantime Keep Safe.
